Duskwillow Manor

Where twilight settles and never quite leaves
Duskwillow Manor
Hidden deep within the mist-veiled edges of Ponder Woods, Duskwillow Manor stands beneath towering black willows whose branches sway even when the wind is still. Warm amber light spills from its crooked windows night after night, welcoming lost travelers, wandering storytellers, and the occasional thing that arrived from deeper in the woods than anyone dares mention aloud.
The manor was built atop the roots of an ancient willow grove said to remember every conversation ever whispered beneath its branches.
No one agrees on how old the house truly is. Maps from centuries apart all show it differently — yet somehow always exactly where it stands now.
The lanterns lining the staircase never burn out. The caretaker claims they relight themselves whenever storms approach.
Guests often report hearing soft piano music echoing through empty halls long after midnight, though no piano has ever been found inside the manor.
Certain rooms seem larger on rainy evenings, as if the house quietly unfolds inward while the woods sleep.
Ravens gather on the roof at dusk each evening, facing the forest in total silence for exactly one minute before scattering.
A narrow tower clock sits at the heart of the manor, though its hands move unpredictably. Locals say it measures “forest time,” not human time.
Travelers who spend the night frequently wake feeling oddly rested, yet unable to remember parts of their dreams — only the feeling that someone was speaking kindly to them in the dark.
The manor’s kitchen is famous for cedarroot tea, blackberry stew, and moon-sugar pastries dusted with silver herbs gathered from the marshes nearby.
Despite its eerie reputation, Duskwillow Manor is considered one of the safest places in all of Ponder Woods during heavy fog nights. Even the darker creatures of the forest seem reluctant to cross its lantern glow.
